Nerve & Facial Pain

Post Herpetic Neuralgia:
Post Herpetic Neuralgia is a complication of shingles that causes burning pain and skin hypersensitivity to light touch that lasts long after the blisters and rash have healed. It occurs if the nerve fibers have been damaged by virus during the outbreak of shingles. In Guildwood physiotherapy we use multiple modalities to heal the damage tissue. The most popular modality in enhancing nerve healing and decreasing nerve pain is Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse. Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse is effective on all chronic and acute neurological and neuromuscular indications. During treatment, the Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse introduce mild electrical micro currents into the cells of the body in order to return the tissue to a normal level of electrical activity. This process may be likened to a "jump start" and "putting a charge" on the battery of a car. In this way, the instrument assists the body in accelerating the natural self-healing process.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
Trigeminal Neuralgia is inflammation of the Trigeminal nerve (5th cranial nerve), that is causing severe facial pain. The pain can be so severe, resulting in some patients contorting their face in a grimace.
